The Story of Josh and Britny

As promised, here is the book I wrote for my proposal to Britny. Enjoy!

-----

Once there was a girl named Britny.

Once there was a boy named Josh.

One day, God decided to give them the most wonderful blessing he could.
He let them meet each other.

Josh and Britny met in a sad place called “Middle School.”

They became friends.

They hung out together.

They did homework together.

They laughed together.

They passed notes together.

One day, Josh's seminary teacher gave them a challenge.

Josh didn't know what to do because he was very shy.

Then something told him what to do.

He wrote his testimony and gave the book to Britny.

He didn't know it then, but that book was the beginning of something much greater.

One day Josh went to a dance. Britny went too.

They started going to dances together, even though Josh didn't dance very well.

The years passed, and their friendship grew.

There were good times.

There were bad times.

There were awkward times.

And then there was JJ.

Slowly, they began to realize...
Their friendship was becoming something new.

Then something terrible happened.
Britny moved to California.

Josh and Britny were very sad. They missed each other very much.

One day, Kyaira had a birthday party. She invited Josh.

When Josh got there, everyone said he had to close his eyes because they had a surprise for him.
It was Britny.

Everyone went to a bowling alley in limousines.

It was basically the best car ride ever.

The years passed, and Josh and Britny met other people.

New friendships were born. Others faded away. But they never forgot about each other.

Eventually, they graduated high school and went to college.

Josh enjoyed college very much.

One day Josh was doing something on the internet.

Then he got a message.

It was from Britny.

Josh was very excited to hear from her. “How are you doing?” he asked.
“Good,” Britny replied. “I have news for you.”
“Really? What's that?”
“I'm getting baptized this Saturday.”

Britny said that Josh had been a big help to her. Because of his good example, she'd decided to learn more about the church.

Josh was happier than he'd ever been in his whole life.

A few months passed, and Josh became a missionary.

He learned Spanish.

He taught the gospel.

He discussed philosophy with drunks.

Ish.

One day he was sitting in his apartment. Something told him to write a letter to Britny. So he did.

Little did he know that that letter would change Britny's life.

When Josh got home, he started talking to Britny again.

She told him how much the letter meant to her.

Then Josh realized what had told him to write the letter, and what had told him to give her that book so many years before.

Josh and Britny talked a lot over the next few months.
They discussed problems.

They discussed trials.

They played 20 questions, even though there were way more than 20.

And once again, their friendship grew into something more.

Josh decided he was going to visit Britny in Kansas.

He took a long, boring bus ride to get there.

Britny came to pick him up, but she got scared.

Josh and Britny spent a week together.
They watched movies.

They rode horses.

They played cards.

They watched movies.

Josh played piano.

Josh played Spore.

They watched movies.

They watched a sunset together.

On Sunday, they went to church together. God decided to make his opinion clear.

Then Josh went home. But not before they made one very important decision.

On August 10, 2013, they would be married in the Portland, Oregon Temple for time and all eternity.

But before that, something else had to happen first.
A proposal.

But not just any proposal. A SUPER proposal.
What's the difference, you ask?

The answer is quite simple.

PRESENTATION!

And so began a journey.
A journey that will last forever.
Because reaching the destination isn’t as important
as the people you reach it with.

I love you with all my heart.
See you in Portland, my love.
